The Legend of my Hometown

Murcia is came from two greek word which means "many grasshopper" before the place of Murcia is full of grasses then a group of native people who first found this are the ones who develop this place. Then a year later the natives were crowded over the place. Their leaders decided to divide his group and his followers agree with him. He divided his group into 23 tribes that separeted to the different places in Murcia and that is why Murcia is a 23 Barangays. It is the first story before the Spaniards came.

Secondly, during the Spanish era, Father Miguel Alvarez, a Catholic priest and belong to the order of Augustinian Recoletos founded in 1860. The name Murcia was named after a town that was located in Spain, just like with the other places in Negros the Negritos was also the first inhabitants of the place and slowly gone away and to live in the mountains when migrants came from other places in the town. Several "Capitanes" succeeded one after the other in serving as Chief Executive of the town during the Spanish regime .
